Course Overview:
This course follows the training of an African Fish Eagle with a strong history of avoidance and limited foundational skills. Using real training footage, we will explore how environment, body language, negative reinforcement, timing, and the thoughtful use of space can help a bird move from avoidance toward confident participation.
Rather than focusing only on obtaining a step-up, the course emphasizes building a broader behavioral repertoire, creating genuine opportunities for choice, and teaching the skills a bird needs to navigate training, husbandry, and daily management successfully. Although the featured bird is an eagle, the principles apply broadly to birds of prey that are difficult to approach, reluctant to engage, or struggling with traditional training methods.
