Lesson 4: Raptors, Softbills and Corvids and Secondary Reinforcement

How similar are raptors, corvids, toucans, hornbills and the other non-psittacines we work with to our parrots?

Turns out, knowing your birds natural history (ethology) is really helpful in understanding secondary reinforcers. How social they are and what that actually looks like is important, extrinsic mortality levels, especially in small species, their propensity for play and so, novelty, and hunting strategies are just a few of the things we look for when considering non food reinforcers.
